9 Yards Sarees - FAQs

What is the length of a 9 yards saree in metres? A 9-yard saree is approximately 8.23 meters long. This length is needed to accommodate the traditional draping styles and intricate pleats characteristic of the specific regional attire, such as madisar of Tamilnadu or Nauvari of Maharashtra.

What is the difference between a 9 Yards Silk Saree and a 9 Yards Semi Silk Saree ? A 9-yard pure silk saree is made from 100% natural silk fibres whereas, a 9-yard semi-silk saree combines silk with synthetic fibers like polyester or viscose. You can have different varieties within the pure silk category itself. They vary in terms of percentage and quality of silk fibers used, and directly impact the price and quality of the saree. In general, any pure silk saree offers greater luxury, quality, and natural beauty, and comes at a higher cost. A semi silk saree on the other hand, provides a more affordable and practical alternative but not the same level of grandness. The choice between the two depends on individual preferences, budget, and intended use.

What are 9 Yards Silk Cotton Sarees? 9 Yards Silk Cotton Sarees are most popular and highly preferred. These sarees are created by blending silk and cotton fibers, resulting in a fabric that offers the best attributes of both materials. The blend can range from 50-50 to a higher percentage of either fiber, affecting the texture and appearance. A pure silk cotton saree is made from natural silk and cotton fibres and more expensive. Regular silk cotton sarees blend silk often mixed with synthetic fibers and cotton. They are more affordable, have a similar appearance as pure silk cotton but not the same level of grandness.

What are Kalyani Cotton 9 Yards Sarees? Kalyani Cotton fabric is a blend of acrylic and cotton fibers, combining the advantageous properties of both materials to create a versatile, durable, and comfortable fabric. These 9 Yards sarees are characterized by their colored body and a striking zari border. Known for their balanced texture—not too stiff nor too limp—a subtle silk-like sheen, they are favored for their resemblance to silk cotton sarees.

Do I need a 9 yards saree or 10 yards saree to make madisar? Typically, a 9-Yard Saree is sufficient for draping in the traditional Iyer or Iyengar Madisar style. However, for individuals with larger measurements, such as a hip size of 50 inches or more, a 10 or 10.5-yard saree may be needed to ensure proper coverage and comfortable draping.

Readymade Madisar Sarees

Ready-made Madisar sarees offer a convenient solution for wearing this traditional attire, which is typically associated with Tamil Brahmins and requires a nine-yard saree. Madisars have two style of drape: Iyer kattu (tie) and the Iyengar kattu (tie). Both these styles of Madisar Sarees are known for being challenging to drape.

WiMO's ready-made Madisar sarees cater to a diverse range of wearers while honoring the cultural significance of the attire. These sarees are stitched according to the wearer's hip and height measurements ensuring comfort and elegance. You can wear the readymade madisar effortlessly in a minute.

Available in both Iyer and Iyengar styles, you can wear the madisar easily like a salwar (or pant). The salwar part is pre-stitched with all the folds and dhoti-style draping, tailored appropriately for each style. For the Iyer style, the kosuvam is also pre-stitched. The only step left is to drape the pallu or mundani over the shoulder. Depending on the style, the mundani is provided for draping on the left shoulder for the Iyengar style and on the right side for the Iyer style, ensuring an authentic and hassle-free wearing experience.
